She obtained an M.Sc. in Occupational Psychology from the University of Sheffield and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham. Since joining UCL in 1990, she has researched usability issues of a number of emerging
communications technologies, led or participated in 20 research projects
funded by EPSRC, EU and industry, and co-authored nearly 100 papers.
Since 1997, Prof. Sasse has a established a user-centred perspective on security,
privacy and trust, and investigated usability and effectiveness of a number
of security mechanisms. She teaches a course on People and Security as part of Masters' Programmes at UCL and Oxford University. In 2004,Prof. Sasse acted was a Specialist advisor to the UK Parliamentary Home Affairs Committe for its enquiry into the proposed introduction of Identity Cards, and conducted a usability and user acceptance study as part of a biometrics field trial in Germany. She is a member of the Biometrics Advisory Group to the UK Identity and Passport Service, and of the Information Assurance Advisory Group (IAAC).
